Switched at Birth Season 3 Review “The Past (Forgotten-Swallowed)”

Bay’s love life on Switched at Birth has never been very successful for her and, in ‘The Past (Forgotten-Swallowed)’, it takes another turn for the unexpected. Poor Bay has been wondering around all season thinking that not one, but two of her boyfriends had cheated on her but, with Mary Beth finally coming clean about the real circumstances of Ty’s departure, she has to go through that period of grieving all over again. That means, unfortunately, that Tank’s place in her life is temporarily displaced by both Ty and, inexplicably, Emmett, and he doesn’t take it very well.

For me, her decision to talk things through with Emmett before going to him is the real issue, and I have no sympathy for him being outed to his fraternity for telling Bay about the party. It was a crummy thing to do and, if Bay hadn’t been so indignant to the whole thing, there’s no doubt in my mind that Tank and his buddies would have followed through on humiliating Mary Beth for their own amusement. Who cares if everyone knows the score now? Honesty is the best policy in this situation, and that goes for Bay and Ty as well. She said goodbye to the ex-boyfriend she thought he was a few episodes ago, but now her image of him has changed.
