Anti-Climatic season all the way around.

I honestly havent been happy with the whole 4th season. It started with a wimper and ends in a gut wrencher. I take it this is a vehicle to get back to basics next year. That and mess the kids up some so Dexter can begin training them. Much the way the Dexter book series is going.

I liked the season but thought this finale was disappointing. Showtime had been promoting that "everything changes" after this, and it wasn't half as much of an upset as I had hoped for.

And just a note too, the writers said they stopped following the books after series 1 and "Darkly Dreaming Dexter", so its probably unlikely that they will do the dark storyline with the kids. I honestly hope that they stop after next season, before they ruin it. In fact they probably should have ended it this season.

Wow really? Maybe I'm crazy but this I thought this season was crazy it's heartbreaking that Rita had to end up like this I mean it would have been Anti-climactic if that hadn't happened but my jaw came unhinged when I saw it I haven't read the books I wouldn't mind having the show go on a couple seasons either if you'd rather have it end here you could just stop watching. The direction it can take here are numerous and I'd like to see how this plays out.

I thought this season was awesome, every ep had me on edge. It so surprised and upset to see Rita killed off, my mouth fell open too. Good writers, good show can't wait for next season!!! hope it doesn't take too long to film :(

Really? I found this season so much more exciting than the last. John Lithgow was extremely creepy, but I still found myself liking Trinity and wanting him to get away. lol
I'm glad Rita is gone though, she became grating early on in the season :/ The last thing Dexter needs is get back to basics. This show needed to change its formula BADLY. I enjoy it when they keep me guessing.

YESSSS!! Finally Dex can get back to being the driver in his life...w/out Rita he can be the Dad He wants to be...and the killer WE want him to be:)

i thought thi was the best season since the first. I wanted so much for Dexter to have the normal life he wanted. I actually started cying as soon as I seen Harrison setting in the blood. I know were all supposed to want him to keep killing but in the end (for me anyway) it has always been about him getting to have the life he wanted. Weather that was with or w/out Rita and the kids I just wanted to see the guy happy in his life.

This is in the end a story about a guy who has killed more than 40 people that we know of. He isnt going to ride off into the sunset. Or shouldnt. Most serial killers either get arrested for other crimes, or get discovered. Few stop.
Where cant his story arc to be as dramatic as the first season? I dont know. Catching the older kids killing animals in his shed would certainly do it. What would be his responce? Sure he could try to ignore it but what would happen if they kept killing things?
Can you imagine the critics if they had the nerve to go this direction? Instant dramatic press. The curious would have to watch. It could recapture its reputation as an edgy TV show. Not repeat this soap opera crap we have been getting as of late.
