What's with that Dragon Merlin keeps going to? Is it just or does that Dragon waste everyone's time on the show?

What does he do there? Every time we see him he's either sleeping or standing there waiting for Merlin. When he's done he just flies up to that cliff above Merlin saying something has he leaves. In fact I notice it's the same video footage over and over again.

At least make him eating something or doing something once in a while. Let the Dragon escape would be a good Episode or find out why he's left alive if Uther hates Magic.

Something with that Dragon.....PLEASE

I'm pretty certain that they'll do something with the dragon. As for what a dragon does...It's a prisoner. Maybe it plays solitaire and second life on wifi when it's on the cliff out of sight and that's why it doesn't like to spend a lot of time explaining -- has to get back to his game, ya know.

It probably has more to do with the expense of the animation to create it, than the writers/producers not wanting to give it more of a story line. I believe the point of it so far has been to test Merlin's mental power. At least, it seems that way.

Yeah, they explain the dragons existence under camelot in the first episode. Hes is the last great magical creature and Uther choose to not kill him to show off his power over the magical world...or so...at least the dragon is dropping some hints here and there to get the plot going. Merlin is somehow really clueless about everything.but, i hate to spoil it, as there is no evidence of some attempt to follow the original storyline of the tale of merlin, the dragon could as well be tinkerbell held in a pepsi can ...its just some animation to keep up.

"expense of the animation to create it"
I don't know the facts on this, so I could be wrong, but isn't animation cheaper than actual special effects? Yes, you still have to pay the animators, but where cost is concerned, animation's a win.
(Though now that you mention is, the flying up and down is similar in most of the shots.)

with the most recent episode (1.13) we found out the dragon's reasons.
And really, was that smart of Merlin to make an enemy of a dragon? I hope they make nice soon. :D

I totally agree with uncomitted. Not smart. It was strange how it could make a weapon to kil anything but merlin blocked it with very little efort. Was it just trying to test him or something?
