When I first heard about this show, I was extremely curious and really excited about it. Now that I've finally seen it, I have to say that it more than met my expectations. The greatest thing about Californication(besides the wonderful David Duchovny) is it's edgy, raw feel. It has plenty of drama to keep you interested, but just enough humor that the drama isn't overwhelming. David Duchovny does a wonderful job as a booze-guzzling woman chaser who is still pining for his ex. Who ever knew he had it in him? His crass, almost rude speech and sloppy appearance are somehow appealing and one finds oneself sympathizing with this seedy character. As for the romantic parts of the show, to me it smells reminiscent of a male version of Sex and the City, starring Samantha instead of Carrie. Overall, I loved it and I can't wait for season two.
