Gossip Girl VS The Secret Life

I think Gossip Girl is a far better show. I really wanted to like Secret Life, and I do think it's great for the younger ABC Family audience, but the acting is pretty awful and the reactions to Amy's pregnancy in the first season were all a little too ridiculous for me. I wouldn't say GG is the most impressive acting I've seen on TV, but I think it's perfect for the juicy, scandalous teen drama it's meant to be.

I don't Secret Life is considered an underdog, because as you have quoted, it pummels GG in the ratings.Gossip Girl is this strange phenomenon of while in reality its viewership is minuscule - it still gets a ton of online buzz and coverage - quite disproportionate to its viewership in fact.Guess Gossip Girl just has a small, but devoted fan base.And it is an undeniably better show. GG's dialogue is witty and hilarious; Secret Life makes me want to rip my hair out!

RachelL, Cuz eveverybody wathces GG online...Hadly anyone here in Europe has even heard of the Secret Life, I've watched it once online but naaw, i'm to true to GG to keep watching it.

I left the TV on Secret Life, all of a sudden I hear this ear numbing high pitched squeal. I then see this girl crying on the TV and I'm sorry, I couldn't help but laugh. The acting was so... well it wasn't great... I continue watching it and I have to say, Secret Life seem to be too predictable and cliche. Even though Gossip Girl resolves around a Glamorous High School Life (where as here people would say Secret Life is more realistic just because it's about a Pregnant High schooler) atleast it's classy in a way, had really unexpected twists and "actual human" characters. Secret Life characters are so... cliche.That one Christian character? wow, no.

Okay, so I haven't actually watched The Secret Life since maybe episode 5 or 6. I didn't even realize it was still on air until recently, actually. And while I still have yet to see another episode (it's on my schedule now, though), I have to give it a little support. Yes, the dialogue is cringe-worthy, the characters can make you barf, and the storyline is eh, but it can be a breath of fresh air after watching supposed teenagers prance around Manhattan in dresses that can pay your rent. Watching The Secret Life is almost nostalgic for me. The characters, though everything they say is full of cheese, remind me of people I knew in high school. There are simple little lessons and lines that say it all, like the shows I watched when I was 10. It's like what TV was like in the 90s.

Hehe... i like watching both shows. Secret life's predictability is comforting. GG keeps you at the edge of your seat.

I would say Gossip Girl beats out Secret Life on my favourite TV show list...I just think that GG kept me hanging on for more, I think that Secret Life is like that too, just on a smaller scale...and yes, I agree that I probably don't like Secret Life better because it isn't aired where I live as I am from Scotland so I have to watch it online and it kills the hype a bit and can get annoying...x

GG for sure. I haven't properly watched The Secret Life, but I know for sure that it's not my type.GG keeps you hooked, like you really want to wait 'til the next week.

okay. gossip girls seasons1, and2, were quite anoyying. you had high schoolers prancing around doing things adults would do. but only in a childish immature manner season 3. since their in college. their age and beahvior is finally catching up. but its just a repeat of eventshow much drama can it have.its all soo forcedyet i still find myself watching it. secret life its a continuous build of events.personally, i started watchign it for no other reason than the incredible brenda hampton, who i still stick by.course this show is nothing compared to the classic 7th heaven.its watchable. some chracters are soo anoyying. but i like that they arent all fighting for perfection. in m ost shows you love a character cuz the're perfect. this show shows all sides of people. that is something we have to appriciate.take amy. the lead. you expect a lead to be the character you wish u were. pretty nice popular (eventually) but shes real. shes human. they all have flaws. exploited in this show.it amkes them real. just saying. i watch both
