Welcome to a new week in TV! Your SideReel editorial team will now be bringing you columns throughout the week telling you what we're looking forward to for the week on TV, what's hot in the reality TV madness, what was awesome throughout the week and more!
To kick things off, kendra here with what's happening this week including what I'm pumped to watch, what I'll be begrudgingly watching, and what I'll be passing on entirely.
Big TV Returns of the Week
The first season of 10 Things held the typical ABC Family cuteness including some fun characters, heartwarming (yet edgy) plotlines, and of course, high school romance angst!
This is definitely one to check out whether you were a fan first season or not - it's pretty easy to jump in on anytime.
As for Greek, there's no need to sell die-hard fans on this one, just a reminder not to miss out on the big season finale that could bring some tragic cliffhangers including what on earth will happen with Casey and Cappie! Is it time to call it quits forever, or will we have to wait and see until its return?
There are more show returns this week including:
V (Reimagined Series) - Tuesday on ABC
Miami Medical - Friday on CBS
My recommendations on these? Give V a try if you haven't, though personally I'm going to struggle to get myself to watch again. Much like Fringe, I find myself intrigued by the concept of the show, but just not held captive by the actual episodes, which, TV fans, I find pretty vital.
I'll be sticking to the ABC Family returns mentioned previously, plus giving V another try, and Miami Medical a go though I plan to find it disappointing just like NBC's Trauma. I'll be jumping back into In Plain Sight as well which is worth watching if you're a fan of the usual USA Network formula.
What I'm Psyched for this Week
Chuck I find Chuck a highlight of every week it airs a new episode, but lately in this crazy new world of Spy Chuck, every episode has actually been exciting with lots of plot developments as well as being hilarious and cute. I'm most looking forward to seeing Chuck try to be a real spy after passing his spy test... falsely. Knowing Chuck's deadly honesty, something has to come of that unless he really has become a different guy. It also looks like there will be some serious attempts by Chuck to win Sarah over, maybe professionally and personally, and what Chuck fan can say "no" to some Chuck-Sarah drama??
Lost I was excited for the season premiere, and had lost faith in this final season along the way until last week's Richard Alpert episode. I'm now back to honestly being excited for Lost this week instead of dreading the disappointment and annoyance at more questions arising. This week it looks like we may FINALLY get Jin and Sun in the same place, and as one of the only non-annoying, sweet couples on that show, I'm dying to see their reunion and some tears including talk of their child. I'll try not to get my hopes up too much, though, just in case this episode is only leading to them reuniting later with plenty of other plot to distract from that happy "ending."
Modern Family Much like Chuck, I'm always excited to see a new Modern Family. This week will feature Phil's birthday and Claire's attempts to get him something awesome. After the Edward Norton guest star incident Claire created for their anniversary, I'd say there are some classic moments to look forward to.
Ugly Betty This week Ugly Betty goes to London for Fashion Week which will include a few exciting character returns including Christina (Ashley Jensen) and (gasp!) Gio (Freddy Rodriguez)! I always adored Betty and Christina's friendship and definitely miss it this season while Jensen has been off on Accidentally on Purpose, so it'll be great to have that friendship dynamic back, even if just for an episode. As for Gio, with the series finale quickly approaching for Betty, I'd really like some love life developments. While I'd be plenty happy if they went Gilmore Girls-style where they left Rory single but on to great things in her career, I'd like a little bit of a drama roller coaster before we settle on that, or a boyfriend of choice, for Betty.
Vampire Diaries Usually my main Thursday thrills come from the NBC comedies, but unfortunately those are taking a break this Thursday. So Vampire Diaries wins this time, and I have to admit, a little too often since I did my marathon catch-up over its hiatus. This week I'm hoping for some hints at what those vampires meeting in secret are up to plus maybe some better idea of why and how that ring protected Alec from Damon's attack. And hey, while we're at it, I'll go ahead and hope for some developments on the Isabelle mystery too!
What are you looking forward to this week on TV?
