Iron Man: Go, Go Robert Downey Jr!

We've seen plenty of superhero movies now with unlikely casting, including this summer's The Incredible Hulk with Edward Norton, and this weekend's Iron Man with Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man himself.

For those of us who knew next to nothing about Iron Man going into the film, it didn't really matter, as all of us clueless and Iron Man fanatics alike in the theater discovered, Robert Downey Jr. made the movie like no one else could have!

He's tough yet just eccentric and quirky enough to make the truly fascinating and fun character of Tony Stark, the owner of Stark Industries, most rich and famous for their weapon technology.

On a visit to Afghanistan, Tony's injured and thrown into something a little more than between a rock and a hard place, leading him to create a scrap metal suit which evolves into, well, you know - Iron Man.

As a classic lonely hero, Robert Downey Jr. carries himself well, keeping the audience laughing with his constant chatter and disastrous moments, but also thrilled by the moments of superhero greatness.

Gwyneth Paltrow makes for an interesting hot, yet sweet and lovable assistant for Tony, and Terrence Howard plays a great buddy that's certainly not a sidekick as Jim Rhodes, while Jeff Bridges plays our villain with a little bit of charm himself.

If you're an Iron Man fan or not, this film is certainly a very fun watch that's absolutely worth checking out in the theater, especially with the electricity of all those true-blue fans in the theater!

And of course, don't forget to stick around after the credits for a little extra something!

Brilliant film - went to the pictures to see it last night. Unlikely casting, right enough, but works brilliantly! Loved it.
