Since 90210 is taking a break next week, it was already time for Halloween and all its tricks and treats this week! But unfortunately for the 90210 crew, 'Unmasked' brought a lot more cruel tricks than happy treats.
While I was expecting a good amount of Adrianna and Navid drama this week, there was no sign of Navid for the entire episode, and Adrianna was just a sad little Naomi sidekick with only a brief mention of her troubles.
Naomi got a good amount of focus as she continued to be torn between fake dating Richard to meet his mom the dean, and her real desire for his roomie, Jamie. This ended rather anticlimactically, though still with promise of interesting things to come, as Jamie appeared at the Halloween party. As Naomi told Adrianna, she decided she'd never get over Liam with a fake relationship, so honest studying to get into college and dating a coed hottie it is for Naomi!
Though Naomi worked out her romantic troubles, everyone else, including the previously mentioned Adrianna, found themselves in relationship disasters, or taking steps to creating disastrous relationship situations. It looked like Harry was smoothing over his mistake of calling Debbie 'Kelly,' but of course, the drama couldn't just end with a kiss-and-make-up lunch for Harry and Debbie. Harry, like a trouble-desiring moron, ditched Debbie for their make-up lunch to have lunch with Kelly after she'd just told him her mom has cancer.
Yes, it's the right thing to do to ditch other plans for a friend in crisis, but if you're going to ditch your significant other for someone he/she thinks has a crush on you... how about trying a little honesty? I know that's not recommended for the sake of drama, but in real life, it's something to think about!
This was far from resolved this week as Harry admitted to Kelly why Debbie was freaking out, and by Kelly's reaction, he realized Debbie was right about Kelly. We'll see where this goes, but I'd assume not much further than Harry and Kelly having a little talk about how he's married, blah, blah.
The other completely disaster-in-the-making relationships go to Harry and Debbie's kids. Annie continues to be an idiot in trusting the "sketchy" Jasper who last week stalked her and saved her from date rape, and this week flattered her into stealing a car for his movie. The only fun of this situation is thinking at some moment Jasper's going to pull a fast on on Annie, revealing he knows about the hit-and-run. But for now it just looks like he's building up to get her in even more trouble.
As for Dixon, he finally did the right thing and broke up with Sasha. But oh, a woman scorned is not one you'll see the last of when you want to! Right as Dixon thought he was free and clear of that situation, Sasha appeared to tell him that they were going to need to work things out - because she's pregnant. Oh. boy. I wouldn't have said this before this episode, but this week she was giving off a desperate and slightly crazy vibe, so I'm curious if she's making this up to pull Dixon back in.
If she were at all thinking this through if she is lying, this could only get her in a bunch of trouble as she's having a baby with a 17-year-old, who she shouldn't have been sleeping with in the first place. Since we've already dealt with a pregnancy on this show, I don't feel as if this one would be interesting to go through with, so I hope either it's some dramatic hoax, or in one way or another, the baby won't happen.
While Dixon's in a whole mess of trouble, Liam was the only one with a positive relationship development this Halloween episode as he met his match in a female surfer girl. It's pretty clear that's going to develop into more than this sexual tension created this week, so we'll see if this means Naomi and Liam are really going different ways, or their new love interests will just stir up jealousy about each other.
The other interesting relationship formed, though it doesn't look like it'll turn romantic, is the surprising new friendship between Silver and Teddy. This was the first time I saw Teddy as anything more than an annoying trouble-maker, and it was good to get this further development to his character, and also see Silver find someone to relate to about her mom.
What did you think of 'Unmasked'? Are you disappointed there wasn't any development for Adrianna and Navid? Are you at all enjoying the Annie storyline? Where do you think things will go next for Liam and Naomi, or Dixon and Sasha?
