Gossip Girl Finale: 'The Goodbye Gossip Girl' Review - Featured

It seems too soon for our Gossip Girl gang to be saying goodbye to high school, but since we started out with most of the main characters as juniors, it was indeed time for them to move on from high school, high school loves, and... Gossip Girl??

Hold on a minute! What's this show without that deliciously snotty Kristen Bell voice over of the secret gossiper ruining lives right and left?

But never fear, while 'The Goodbye Gossip Girl' kept seeming to promise saying goodbye to high school also meant saying goodbye to Gossip Girl, this ended up not being the case at all. Not only did we not discover the one voice behind the secret gossiper, we also discovered Gossip Girl was coming along to college! How? Well, when they keep all the characters in New York, it's not too hard to imagine all those people going continuing to report the gossip, and so the cycle continues.

But in the process of trying to figure the secret gossiper out, we got some big truths for our Upper East Siders! Turns out Serena, who's acted like she didn't care less about everything gossip and high school since her return first season, doesn't want to be "irrelevant," Blair doesn't want to be a "weakling" and Chuck... yes, very best of all, Chuck finally decided he didn't want to be a "coward" anymore!

Yes, this is jumping to the end of the episode, but really, the most exciting and important part of all this drama was seeing Blair get rejected yet again by Chuck, then when she decided she didn't need him, there he was in all his Chuck Bass glory.

I'm skeptical about how a real "Chair" relationship can work, but when they originally were together, Chuck said they needed time and be in a place where they weren't playing games, to ever have something work. So maybe that later was actually sooner than I would have imagined, and hey, I'll take it!

While there is much to work out still for Chair, I think the scene of him showing up home from Europe with that look of a cat who just swallowed a mouse was the perfect understated moment for them. It was a grand gesture for the likes of Chuck, but with his money, a grand gesture could easily be over the top, and that's not who he and Blair are as a real couple. It was perfect to show he really loved her, but in a very happy and simple way as opposed to any sort of emotionally disastrous outburst, which I won't say we haven't seen before on this show!

So Chair it is, and we'll have to keep our fingers crossed all summer in hopes that they really make it! Also, we had a few more exciting tidbits revealed as Serena tried to take off for a care-free European summer to be confronted with more information about what (or who, rather) she'd been looking for on her previous trip - her dad. Now that's an interesting development!

We also saw Dan meet his half-brother, so looks like there will be some major family developments for both sides of the now happily engaged couple's families.

Also, what will become of another European trip by the one and only Nate Archibald... with Vanessa! Could this strike the romance again or once and for all solidify them as friends?

So what did you think of the big finale? Are you thrilled to finally get Chuck and Blair together? Are you annoyed to have the Nate-Vanessa possibility back? What do you think of Jenny's new Queen Bee status? And how about that mysterious son and the missing father? So much to ponder over a long gossip-free summer!

Oh, the last part where Chuck says to Blair that he loved her, it's my favourite scene now! It was perfect. But I don't know how it will work out between them. And the bitch, Georgina, is back! Exciting. I'm not that interesseted in Lily's son. But we'll see, he might be interesting after all. Can't wait for the next season!XOXO

everybody loves chuck and blair but lets be honest, if chuck had said 'i love you' before and so they would have got together before, it wouldnt have been as entertaining as it actually was! anyway im looking forward to see what happens with georgina, she just vanished. and i think i want dan and serena together again but im not really sure-

I absolutely love Blair and Chuck together, the moment was perfect...Lily and Rufus confuse me, it was kinda out of the blue as they seemed happy enough separated, but I'm happy for them and for us as there's bound to be sum more drama there...Serena's dad is so much of a mystery that it's actually exiting to think that we may at last know something about him next season. And of course it had to be Carter who found him so that the drama reaches unsuspected levels...I'm gonna love Blair and Georgina rooming together, but Blair always has the possibility of living outside the campus if she gets too annoying...How old is Rufus and Lily's son? because he actually looked younger than the rest, but it'll be interesting to see how he drops the bomb...Nate and Vanessa are so not made for each other, I hope the backpacking means strong friendship and not romance...Jenny is queen, wow, I'm not sure I saw that coming as lately she seems kinda nice. Will she end up queen b**** as before?? For sum reason I really liked Nate and little J and I kinda think they'll end up together when she grows up a little, it was cute to see how he jumped at the GG bomb of them...

I am not looking forward to Georgina being in the next season. She irritates me.

honestly Gossip Girl is losing it's touch. They better bring it next season. Nothing new happened that hasn't happened before. I'm looking for something huge that will have my eyes glued to that screen.

Honestly I really like Gossip girl but love it I don't know, i mean its a good show but sometimes things went so fast so you didn't even get a chance to be exited about for example the jenny nate situation went just a little to fast. and i think blair and chuck got together a little to fast and there for it wnon't be long before they start getting boring. But this episode i loved. I think it finally stod up to all the credits it been giving. But i really hate nate and vanessa together they are boring however vanessa and chuck would be intresting and nate and jenny. I also thught that when blair and dan connected that THAT would be an intresting couple and you could do alot with that. But else im really exited about the half brother and jenny.

That was exactly what GG needed to end the season perfectly. After last weeks episode with the blond male who Lily's sister was involved with, last name Van der Woodsen, I'm sure the timing will be just right if he shows up in the midst of Lily and Rufus planning their wedding. Maybe he will tell Serena to quit looking for him or something. Seems like he's running from her... Also, how about Dan meeting his brother and not knowing. Awesome. I'm happy about the Nate/Vanessa backpacking trip. I think it will be good for both of them. And then not so sure about the Georgina/Blair roommate thing... although it will be great to see the daily conflict between the two... Hello Chuck and Blair! Finally. Ed Westwick looked relieved about it as well, with that wholehearted smile at the end. Did anyone else heart flutter? Perfect

I am very pleased with the Chuck and Blair outcome I really wanted them to be together because they are perfect for each other and I do hope that they make it trough the summer and gives us some Chair love! I really can't wait for the new season it's a promising one since we will see new things like the missing son and dad and I am extremely excited about seeing Jenny be queen, I really think she can top Blair, Jenny is evil when she wants to so I want to see what she does with her new school position.

How about Lily and Rufus? I was so happy!

I must admit that I was kinda hoping all season long that Chuck wouldn't say "I Love You." I guess I just like prolonged tension and tortured romances. However, I changed my mind with minutes to go in last night's episode. I expect plenty of controversy and tension between the two next season, so having a heartfelt ending was cool. I'll definitely have to pony up money to get the season pass on iTunes to keep me satisfied during the summer.
