It is so refreshing to watch a show that is both well written and well acted. I love the grittiness of The Shield and how it challenges your own moral system. So sad that it is the last season!!

I LOVE THE SHIELD! From the first episode they had me. I love Michael as Mackey, he totally changed himself from THe commish for this character. I love how he is so tough and hot, and soo cool. I love the friendship of the guys, but SHane ruined that and killed Lem. I loved last season when they added Kevin ( Alex Olaughlin ) that hottie to the mix, that chair scene was priceless! WOW THere isnt one other show on TV that compares, not NYPD didnt come close, CSI NY, what else is there? JUsT the SHIELD.

I have actually never seen the show.. there went my chances of winning right there, huh? But I have heard the show is great and have been wanting to see it. I don't have cable. My preferred way of watching television is via boxed sets!! I want this1

Honestly the best series I've ever seen on cable television. You have to love a show where on the first episode he kills his very own partner in cold blood;I mean if that doesn't get you hooked, well i don't know what to say you.
His often "Meaningful one night relationships" after divorcing his wife are always classic;and when Anthony Anderson was in, talk about shock and awe on every single episode until the climax of his incarceration.
It's funny how Vic Mackey does all these Insanely sinful choices yet we still root for they guy; it must be that we care so much for the character, we could really care less if he brakes a law or two as long as he lives, solving a case would be considered a plus in his book. Example, burning that guy's face after he beats the living crap out of him with a phone book, Blackmailing Aceveda many times (Especially with his long forgotten rape picture),Stealing from the Armenian money train, and his everyday deals with gangs.
I bought the set with the first four seasons on ebay and fifth one when it came out; I've been waiting to own season six and looking forward to watching the 7th season of this action-packed show on FX. This guy is the epidemy of a bad-ass; I recommend this show for anybody who into police/action/dramas.

I think what makes this series so refreshing is there's no clear black and white areas, even for the characters who think they're squeaky clean. Even the people who seem like they're unbreakable end up having their asses handed to them at one point in time or another. Not only that, but there's the moral dilemma that this show puts the viewer through. Do you root for someone who likes beating up on bad guys and taking things a bit too far instead of letting "the law" take care of it... even if it's to help someone or their family?
Then there's that whole "I hate to love them, but I love to hate them" mentality that surrounds the Strike Team. Through thick and thicker we've seen our boys trudge through the muck of the problems their own decisions have caused, and it's been a joy every step of the way. The character development that envelops this show is phenomenal. We don't see a little spat start at the beginning of the episode and then characters are hugging and making buddy buddy in the end. No way, we get full on hatred and shaky alliances between enemies who've disliked one another from the get go. We see partners have episodes where absolutely nothing can go wrong and the world is their oyster, and the next moment they're at each others throats. We see characters fall from great heights and try to pick themselves back up again... and not always succeeding.
It's a disease, it's a contagion, it's downright brilliant. Once this show and it's wonderful cast and multi-layered storyline gets under your skin, there's no shaking it. You can think you know what's going to happen next, but I can assure you that your jaw will eventually hit the floor at the unexpected. You're stuck until the sweet or bitter end... and I can't wait to find out what happens next.
I don't care if I win or not as long as someone who hasn't seen the show reads this comment and decides to watch such a fantastically written series themselves.

The shield is one of the few cop dramas that doesn't sugar coat the true experiencing of cops. Although this show focused on mainly corruption, it also showed us another side that i have only found in the show "the wire"..

From the very first episode, I was hooked. It is gritty in your face. You want to hate the task force for what they do, but you end up pulling for them!

The Shield is a revolutionary show that has been breaking down barriers since the pilot episode ran in Spring of '02. This show is perfect and tremendously well acted, written and shot. There is a complex relationship viewers are forced to feel with the characters as they do some terrible things to get results, but then there's the whole dynamic of the bureaucracy behind it all. I don't know whether to love them or hate them, but i know I love to watch them.

"The Shield" has always been on of televisions more highly rated in terms of quality in so many areas, writing, direction and particularly acting. However, it was ultimately refreshing to see a TV drama be so honest, brutal in its honesty, and still enjoyable without being offensive or difficult to watch unfolds. Hats off to the entire cast, crew and production teams.
