Heroes 'Villains': Was the peek into the past worthwhile?

*"Villains" Spoilers Included!*

I wasn't too excited about this week's new Heroes episode with the look back before they were heroes/villains, because I felt like we already had enough background to cover what we needed to know about everyone, and I'd much rather have them get to the interesting future already.

But in watching the episode, I got more and more intrigued by learning more of what turns out to be very important bits of the past that led back into the present as we found out all this past we were seeing, we were seeing with Hiro on his "spirit walk."

So what did you think of all we learned in "Villains?" Did this make you sympathize with Angela Petrelli? Did it make you sympathize with Sylar or Elle (who were kind of cute there for a bit)?

Has Arthur Petrelli become the most frightening villain of all? And what on earth can little Hiro do against this terrifying Petrelli, especially after he clearly means business by chopping off their spirit guide's head?

Though I didn't expect to even like this episode, my head was left spinning with what it all means, so share your thoughts and predictions!

onesideddie who did arthur take his mind reading ability from? parkman's dad? If it is then he got it bak so there is still hope for peter! its def not angela cuz her power his seeing the future in her dreams!(yippee) this was ep was ok, there were only 2 interesting things that happened. One flint being claires uncle and the second really interesting thing was elle and sylar's connection, which i think will turn into that blonde boy we saw earlier. the one thing that i am really interested in is how does peter get the scar on his face!!!!!! they havent told us yet, it better be good! I also want to kno if hes gona get his powers back! it would be really boring if he doesnt

I think all the mind reading bizzo that arthur did in this ep was a stolen power from angela. If angela now has her powers again then it must be possible for others to regain theirs. But how... wish this series had been more compelling but i still watch and post though so they must be doing something right... xo Yippee

No I think this series has been really slow, its becoming clearer and clearer there is no finale to this series and it will branch out to the next series.

to answer the questions about arthur - i think aruther was able to kill usutsu because he has an ability to counter other abilities in a way. he sort of countered angela's ability by going into her dreams and puttins her in a coma. and anyway usutsu obviously hasnt been painting since hiro went on his spirit walk so he probably wasnt able to see it coming. (and also, as bud14115 said, what could he do to stop him anyway? its like when sylar went after Isaac Mendez in series 1). in reply to Tuan04 - hiro wasnt trying to kill the african guy, he was trying to capture him alive to take back to pinehurst vacelts - what do u mean "The major plot hole regarding Arthur's (faked) death really ruined this episode for me. You can’t change a storyline like that without explanation."? in what possible way didnt they explain how that worked? chinaman2590 - arthur's original power wasnt mindreading...it was the taking people's powers thing, thats how he got the mind reading ability

arthur can kill the african guy because although usutsu can see him coming hiro was slow to react to the shovel swinging madman. arthur is a killer so when the guy swings a shovel he head chops him or freezes time etc.. no delay to action means he wins...an alright episode overall but they need to get to the exciting parts already so much potential so little use of it.

I Think It Was Also To Give Background Info For People That Are New To Heroes Seeing That There Views Have Gone Sky High.

omg i hope hero is still spirit qalkin i dnt want usutu to doe or hero... plus tru tuan04 how did he not see arthur cumming hhmm that is pickling me...

The cliffhanger is really driving me nuts ;) But maybe Hiro is still "spirit walking" and is only dreaming that he is awake ...But I've also to admit that this episode wasn't as powerful as some of the others but for true fans a necessity. I'll let me surprise what will come in future episodes. PS: Im teasing a lot of my friends 'cause back here in Germany they are showing espisode 10 of the second season and I'm not saying anything what happens ;)

i think this episode gave us more inside of how things began to take place and how everything started, perhaps not the most exited episode but true viewers wouldnt want to miss this ep for anything. Only thing that i dont get is the fact when hiro tried to kill usutu the african guy, he couldnt because he could see the future. How come arthur can get to usutu and take his head off?:S and i have to say the cliffhanger on this episode was a KILLER!! i was so surprised by it, i mean will hiro lose his head? (i doubt it, but possible), or lose powers? (most likely) or will hiro stop him by doing something (no idea rather its possible or not) or will andy interfere (doubt it) :P

holz2112.. i dont think that peter is going to be a baddie if that's what you mean.i agree with wandaywangmichelec, hiro might lose his powers but then he'll get them back.. just like peter.. or maybe, before arthur could get his powers, hiro will then teleport

omg aboslutely loved this episode no matter how good it was there are always gonna be people that are gonna say they ddint like it lol. loved how the whole story linked in with each other like claire saving her uncle who goes on to be a bady.. and with claires dad gettin in mohinders taxi as nathan walks past and the fact that anegla killed her husband.. it was a wiked episode i hope above all hopes that hiro does not loose his powers he has been my favourite character from the start as most prob for many other fans of the show :D if he does loose his powers but stays alive i think he will still try and save the world in some way with ando by his side

I thought that the episode was ok-ok.Is Hiro going to lose his powers? If he loses them it's gonna suck :/

This episode definitely made me sympathize so much more with Sylar and Elle. I think it this event that turned Elle bitchy. And now I really really hate the company because Sylar had the potential to turn into someone good. I think that Elle's going to Primatech and Gabriel "working" for it might turn into something interesting, as in a blond boy in the future...I don't know. Also how is this story going to continue if Arther continues to take everyone's powers.

insightful episode, but it lacks the feeling of urgency, as in it doesnt quite fuel my addiction to the series. though if this is a prelude to an awesome fast paced set of episodes then the wait is very worthwhile.

it wasn't really that good but it answered some questions. now we know that arthur is really the ultra villain. but i've got a question. was there something about linderman and angela that we do not know? because i thought that linderman's loyalty belongs to arthur. but then, he was the one who healed angela for her to remember that arthur wants nathan to be killed..

Good episode, i enjoyed it for sure... very interesting, not sure why alot of people disliked this episode

The major plot hole regarding <a href=” (faked) death</a> really ruined this episode for me. You can’t change a storyline like that without explanation. However, this episode was a perfect example of why you shouldn’t let angry women cook. I liked the return of Eric Roberts. And was it me or did Elle seem nice in this episode? Was the Sylar incident what turned her bitchy?

this episode left me with so many questions, one in particular has been bothering me...if arthur petrelli's original power was the whole mind reading thing like parkman, then how can he absorb powers??
| Nov 12, 2008 3:21AM EST
Sorry, I really just did not enjoy this episode.

| Nov 11, 2008 7:41PM EST
actually I think it cleared a lot up for me and I found it really interesting....I don't know if I would ever sympathize with Angela I 'm not sure she can be redeemed, but at least she's not heartless like their dad....still kinda confused how she was still a part of the group in the other season's. You would think that knowing what Arthur was like, she would have left the group wanting to blow up New York.

Great episode i mean we see what happened to Aurther, saw where Flint came from (although i would rather have seen knox's past) and i am sure no one saw the train thing coming. In all not as good as ep6 but still a solid episode.

I think it was worth while. I liked this episode it was kinda like a how i met your mother episode except less funny. but definitely a plus. it wasnt needed but it was enjoyed
| Nov 11, 2008 4:36PM EST
I agree, the episode was a complete was of my time and they really should have not even gone throw the effort.
| Nov 11, 2008 3:15PM EST
Personally, I felt the episode was lacking. As for the overall season, I feel that their pacing is far too slow, and that the flashbacks are completely unnecessary. It's time to kick it in to high gear, push the story forward and perhaps even bring it to its final climax. Let's face it, I don't think even Usutu (the African prophetic painter) could envision a season 4.
