Cancellation Buzz: Heroes back in the Danger Zone! Save It or Sink It? - Featured

I'll have to see how this season goes. This show has been in need of some resolution for a while. The writers either need to recapture us with new interesting characters, an actual coherent plot, and to tie up some loose ends. This show has gotten into the bad habit of answering a question with more questions. I haven't seen the entire premiere but it looks like they might actually be trying to do away with the mess that was series 3's plot and trying to steer things in a more simple approach. I personally think that this should be the last season, but if the plot is written better and is more incoherent and sucks me in more, I might sway the other way.

I hope they just move the show to a less competitive night and keep it running. Its a good show but given the choice between it and shows like HIMYM and House I just can't really choose to watch Heroes weekly. Heroes has usually done decently online too though so even if the ratings aren't that great I wouldn't count it out.

I agree with Raz and a bit with LongDivision. If they keep the same writers for a full season this time, tie up a few loose ends (Uhm, hello? Where'd Claire's brother go? And pretty much every other minor character?) I think this season is far from being dead. After Monday's two hour premier, I believe Heroes still has a chance of living. I think it'd be a good idea to drop it to another night as it seriously cannot compete with other shows.So my overall opinion? If they keep up the plot, continue with these new, intriguing characters and move days? Heroes still has a chance.

SINK IT. Even my brother was angry over the show keeping BOTC (Blonde Other Than Claire). The show is dead in the water. It's down to the core fanboys/girls that will watch the show regardless of how bad it is. Without a wider audience, this will be the last season.

I think that if they want to save it they should move the thing. Too much on Mondays to compete with. Put it on Tuesdays nothing good on that night.

i'm optimistic about the new season and hope it regains some of it's old charm. that said, if it's a choice between house and heores, i'm watching heroes. the networks need to understand that just because people may watch house over heroes doesn't mean that they won't watch heores later. they really need to factor in the number of online viewers (i'm sure hulu offers them some great statistical tools)

why do ppl always expect so much from this show above all others???, it is not meant to be mind altering just enjoyable so just ENJOY it take evrythin with a pinch of salt and stop trying to find fault with it cos if your that determined to c something wrong your gonna find something wrong with everything!there's crap like lost out their yet no one ever says anything about its stupid story lines!ppl just have it in for heroes and if everyone keeps expecting too much from it its going to fall short and get cancelled

The problem I've always had with heroes is that not only is the plot confusing and incoherent, there aren't any really good action scenes. There's all these people with superpowers but none of them actually clash in anything big and spectacular. It's like watching X-men without the fighting. They focus too much on the plot, yet the plot is still so bad. So bad plot, bad action. What does it offer? Am I expecting too much if I expect it to have at least something worth watching?

I felt LongDivision stated it best, heroes always had potential, but the plot was never clear enough.. what was the purpose?? The first seasons purpose was just discovering their powers, and dealing.. but four seasons later, it seems their still in that spot.. One of my favorite shows was Alias, because you clearly know the purpose of the show, the driving force, so it doesn't seem like such a mess. Right now Heroes feels like a mess..

Save it! I'm sure it would get better. come one, give them a chance.

I believe that heroes had a chance. The first season, the best season had everything. Every character was new and fresh, but that was not all. Every character had a role. There were amazing action sequences and amazing challenges. I fear for this new season because they brought in new characters. They completely destroyed the first seasons plot from continuing. Completely new. The show is definitely starting fresh trying to redeem itself. They lost the action, the intense purpose, the connections between the characters. But its only the beginning. I'm going to give it a few more episodes. Hopefully they are just building up to something amazing. I really really hope that deaf girl that can see sounds becomes helpful. What happened to that kid with the cool "i can talk to computers" power, seriously. They could have used him so many times, what other movies or series is he doing that he can't be in this one. He has such an amazing power. I really miss peter having his powers and I miss the asian dude having control of his powers. I hate how they dily daly around these things so much. it serves no purpose seriously. I fear they are making this more like one tree hill or gossip girl than a sci fi action thriller dramaish show. I really hope we don't spend 20 episodes just to get sylar back into his body, like really? lol wtf dude. just do it and move on to the real issue. end rant. i say cancel heroes but i'll give it a while to see what they do. maybe they can prove me wrong.

THe problem is that ever since season 2 got screwed up by the writers strick Heroes has been constantly trying to "return to its roots" or "reinvent itself" or "revigorate itself", instead of simply rolling with what season 2 did leave them with plot wise and fit in some cool action squences, and the whole atempt to rebalance the powers by screwing up Peter's and Hiro's really pissed me off.

I agree the reason i love the show was peter, why? cause his power was AWSOME, some might say legen... wait for it DARY. now that he can only hold 1 power at a time... wuss, every one loves the super man charachter the guy who do everything... PS. remember season 1 finale how hiro just ran up and stabbed syler.. would it real of been that much trouble to make him disapere and reapear as the swords in syler LIKE COME ON!! it woulda been way better then him running in screaming "ahhhh" and sylar standing there doing nothing.

Peter can only hold one power at a time? When did that happen?

I like the addition of the new characters this season and it is getting good... personally, I think they need to pull out all the stops in this season like the first season. I'd like to see them keep it for one more season and finish out the story arc.

I like their new villain - he seems to be a man with a plan. But yes, they need to start resolving some issues soon because that last season was so out-of-synch that it turned a huge number of people off. Peter is the lynch pin character - if they get Peter's storyline right (and to a slightly lesser degree, Sylar) then the show will follow - though they need to carry on un-wimping him and man him up a bit. The season 4 Peter has started well and shows promise. LOVE what they're doing with Sylar and Matt at the moment - it gives Sylar a chance to play goodie or baddie, whatever he fancies, whenever he fancies.But let's face it - they need a mission. I'm interested to find out what the new big baddie is up to and mildly curious (though a bit puzzled) as to what the deaf girl with the coloured sound is up to. There's enough to keep me watching for the time being, but for crying out loud - why Nikki AGAIN? Will she never, ever, ever die? When all the rest have gone, will she be the only one left? She's a bore.

I rewatched the first season a bit over the summer- It seems like an entirely different show-character development, a coherent yet intriguing plot.There don't seem to be any interesting story lines anymore. Just people returning to same old patterns. How many minor characters will claire's storyline run through and abandon? Where is mohinder? Why is parkman is still whining about his love life? KILL HIM ALREADY. Can we bring back Sylar's protege and let Nathan Petrelli finally die? If not then cancel it.

Well, I've watched the show from the get-go, and I must say if it hadn't been for this upcoming season I would agree to cancel this show. I have two major problems with the show. One: Save the World! Every single season has been about saving the world. I mean yes its called 'Heroes', but seriously get a different plot line, changing the way the world is going to end doesn't change the fact that it is going to. Second, all of these people have superpowers, yet I think I've only seen one episode in which they actually fight each other, or do awesome stuff with them. The only killing on this show is Sylar, or by guns and to me thats been a major disappointment. However, this season seems to be kicking off to a great knew start, partially because the newer writers had to spend last season fixing all of the terrible ideas the old writers had laid into the plot, and thus last season was still the best season of all. I give this show one more season to pull through and make it intense and interesting (and it seems as though it will be doing so), and if not I agree give them the boot.

i think the first half of season 3 was awesome. i cant believe people said this show sucks just cuz of 1/2 of a bad season. although i agree that volume four sucked that theres still hope for the show to redeem itself. right now, if none of u have noticed, is that they're starting to fix hiro's power. he's already starting to time travel and he's going to do more of it. as for peter i believe there's a repitition going on with him. in the beggining of season one the fans believed that he was only able to use abilities whenever he was around other people with abilities. perhaps they're doing the same thing now and all we have to do is wait for his power to evolve. they need someone who can face off against sylar and we all know peter's the one to do it. also in the past seasons when peter had all those powers he was always munipulated or gotten his ass kicked. ever since he lost his abilities he's been real bad ass other than some lost little boy who has trouble controlling his powers. the only thing that concerns me about the show is the missing links. what happened to molly? what happened to mohinder? did they just leave caitlin in season 2 stuck in tht crappy future? and what happened to the haitian? he just kinda dissapeared when he was chasing after sylar. other than that i think the show has gone in a good direction. this show is amazing and i think we should save it for at least as many season lost has had. Volume four may have been bad and they couldve gone in a whole different direction with that but at least things are starting to heat up with Redemption.

@Ms.Nickie I believe House moved to Mondays last season. Heroes wasn't in the same timeslot as it last season since House was at 8 at Heroes at 9, but now they've created some competition for themselves bumping Heroes to 8! Chuck pulled through after having that 8 NBC timeslot last season, so I think Heroes has a chance if we do some fan campaigning like for Chuck to help it out!

Heroes is great. I will absolutely watch it in its time slot. Lets face it, they re-run the heck out of House. Wait 15 seconds you'll see that episode.

Save it and Move it to Wednesday's. There is nothing good on Wed. nights, and reality TV shows are sooo dumb. That's what's wrong with television these days.

If you're going to bring it back you have to give it more than 2 episodes. Honestly, what did they think was going to happen, magically people are going to start watching it again right on the premiere? If it is a better season the buzz will start to circulate and people will catch on, but not with the season premiere.

After they killed Elle off you could say my love of the show waned and I didn't make much effort to watch the show. Instead, I began to watch House and Gossip Girl. The reason for this is quite simple, she was an amazing character. If they could bring another character like Elle I think she show could possibly be saved. Moving it to another night would also help the ratings as well. It's just not popular enough to compete against House and Gossip Girl.

Just wrap it up, this show has been slowly (or quickly sinking) tie up the loose ends and go out with grace.

The show's been dwindling, but as long as they make it, I'll probably still watch it. Wouldn't miss it as much as other shows, though. "Uhm, hello? Where'd Claire's brother go? And pretty much every other minor character?" Kyle's disappearance is so obvious it became an inner joke in my circle of friends. It's like they forgot he existed at all. What's more, last season, Kyle had less screen time than Parkman's magic turtle....

dont u mean lyle? seriously if u can t even get the name right you dont even deserve to comment. plus its kinda obvious tht he just lives with is mom. they hardly ever show him in the show. who cares where he is.

I love Heroes but i do think its competiton (House) is making it hard for its ratings to go up. However, if they made it a complete online show like they did their Webisodes than perhaps we'd have an interconnection....just a thought

The first season was good. I had high hopes forthis show, but after that Heroes turned into a humongous soap opera spiced up with people having supernatural abilities... What a shame...

Last episode's "Because I lost my family Angela!" by Noah, Claire's teenage angst-filled new friend relationship, and episode one's "I am a hero" blah blah blah by Hiro are the greatest representations of the flaw that is Heroes. They are still banking on plot lines from season one. Claire is still whiny and annoying. Noah is still singing the same family song. Parkman and Hiro still haven't come close to mastering their powers. Peter is still too weak of a character mentally. And Sylar is STILL AROUND!!!! (I could not be more done with Sylar as the bad guy). When I look at this show I find myself asking this question above all others: What progress have the characters (or the show) made since Season one? Of course, "things" have happened, but in terms of the main characters, where have they gone? What have they accomplished? Nothing. Angela and Noah are back to running "the company", Claire still wants friends to share her life with (remember the boy from season one anyone?) and still pitches little fits like an immature child, Matt is still doing boring cop shit, Hell Peter even lives in the SAME apartment. Hiro and Ando continue to engage in the same wacky shenanigans. The problem is, these actions have all gotten stale and repetitive. After four seasons nothing dramatically interesting has changed among any of the main characters. I get it Nathan's dead, but even Sylar-Nathan is boring, still living the same politician's life. Think about it, Nathan has been about as consistent as Oprah's weight (bad-good-bad-good-bad-good) so having him as Sylar only rehashes this same plot. He'll be bad for half of the season. Real twist there, haven't seen that before. Ooo, so Peter's power changed, big deal. Where is the growth that comes with telling a story (whether a novel, a tv show, or a movie)? How are any of these characters, in any way whatsoever, three-dimensional or "real"? I watch Dexter and see new interesting characters and villains every season. BSG did more in four seasons than Heroes did in two. Ask yourself this question, if you were reading a book this long, drawn-out, and repetitive, would you want it to be any longer? Or would you say to yourself, please, God, end it so I can get some closure and move on with my life! I realized the other day that this is the only reason I still watch Heroes. I hope for it to end so I can get closure. Everyone I started watching it with has given up on the show (11 people to be exact). And I don't blame them. I watch hoping that some executive will walk up like a park ranger on a car-smashed deer, unholster their pen, and put it down so the wails will stop. Since season one this show has lacked direction, plot coherency, and action. Now it finally lost the one saving grace it still possessed, interesting main characters.

I watch Heroes every monday, and try to watch house online, other people might do it vice versa.Yes I agree they should move it to another night, and they should count the ONLIne statistics. I really hope they bring its charm back, make the heroes improve their powers, like claire, since she can heal, make her be able to heal others, make hiro get his powers back, be able to control time and space, and to improve his power to more ability...you know open your minds! I agree with all (most) of u, it does have a kind of messy storyline and not to much action but remember this is the beginning of the season, just give it some time and i thing the plot will become much more clear.So all in all i think they should save it but perhaps move it.

Keep it, this show still has a lot of life-- with the new characters the writers added this year there are a lot of places this show could go. I am really excited to see what happens next, though, I think it's kind of lame that Peter and Hiro are power handicapped.
