Episode 17: Even the enemy has a heart (spoilers)

Richard and Kahlan meet up with the Resistance near Graceland and devise a plan: Richard will go undercover as a Dharan soldier to get hold of a powerful weapon that can wipe out an entire village.

This is the first episode in which the enemy is to a certain degree viewed as humane while the Resistance is perceived as murderous monsters. Undercover, Richard meets the Dharan commanders family and almost connects with him on a certain level. On the other hand, the Resistance soldiers are planning an attack on a village of only civilians. Its almost as if both sides have switched places for this episode to show the viewer that there is good and bad in everyone, but its up to individuals to decide which one to favor.

After an intense battle scene, Kahlan manages to kill the leader of the Resistance who lost vision of what their real objective should be and Richard manages to spare the life of the commander - in true Seeker style.

I kind of missed Zedds presence in this episode, I always love his witty banter and hilarious facial expressions. I also realized that recent episodes have been downplaying Richard and Kahlans relationship which was one of my favorite parts of the show!

I agree, Zedd was noticeably absent from this episode...but I have to admit, I kind of liked the downplaying of Richard and Kahlans relationship. I love their relationship, and how it grows in subtle ways throughout each episode. It makes the really explosive Richard-Kahlan scenes more enjoyable!
