(S05 E12) "What you sacrificed was your family" - Andy
It might look like I may have to take back my words from last week. It indeed looks like WEEDS may be able to save itself yet. This episode may not have made dramatic progress in the storyline, but it was entertaining enough to keep me watching.
Nancy and Andy travel to Mexico to try and find Esteban. Whilst no progress is really made, it was entertaining to watch Andy and Nancy debate about love. And many fans will be happy to see that Nancy actually feels some guilt for how she messed up her family, when Shane and Andy both ask what it would be like if she could have another go at her life. The dialogue between Andy and Nancy was well written, and the writer should be congratulated. It was quite amusing to see Nancy slip in a reference to the viral video "Charlie goes to Candy Mountain" as Nancy asks "Major life emergency for Andy? Going to Candy Mountain?"
Seeing Celia dressed as Nancy was one of the funniest moments of this season, complete with Nancy's latte. As expected, she failed miserably at playing 'drug dealing Nancy'. Doug, Dean and Isabel's plan was quite humorous, as Dean says "Robert Downey Jr. opened the door and now I'm going through the door".
I had new found respect for Shane after he pulled a knife on Adelita's friends, but I still dont think he is a worthwhile character in the show. Perhaps Adelita will have a new found respect for Silas.
I'm very excited after this episode, as I feel that the storyline of Esteban is coming to an end, i.e next week in the season finale. I think the new season might take a whole new turn, after Andy and Nancy's dialogue:
Nancy: I would love to be ordinary. I would love to be back in Agrestic.
Andy: You burned that town to the ground, and your house. You did that.
Nancy: I made some sacrifices for my family, fine.
Andy: What you sacrificed WAS your family. Look where you are. Are you watching Shane play soccer? No, cause you f**ked that up. Don't sit here and tell me you wanna be someone else when you do f**k all to change what's going on.
Could this be the change that the show has so desperately needed? To me, it sounds like that dialogue meant that change is on the way, and Nancy may be abandoning her life with Esteban.
What do you think? Leave a comment and let me know.
I for one am excited for the changes that might come, the only problem is we will have to wait til 2010 to see them.
