Battle of the Pairings

so with the recent attention on Friends, primarily the fantastic where are they now series, I got to thinking about the pairings on the series. With great couples such as Chandler & Monica and Phoebe & Mike, and then staples such as Ross & Rachel proved to be I have to ask, which is your favorite?

personally, I found Ross and Rachel rather tiresome and hackneyed after ten seasons of that constant drama, filled with banshee-like yelling on Rachel's part, and rather monotone droning for Ross, but adored Chandler & Monica as well as Phoebe & Mike.

how about you?

Monica and Chandler have always been my favorite. Matthew and Courteney, who are also my favorite actors out of the group, played the characters so well and had amazing chemistry together. I loved when the kept their relationship secret from everybody. Than in the later seasons when they found out the couldn't have kids and decided to adopt. Ross and Rachel were okay in the beginning but I think it just got old after a while. And I liked Joey and Rachel better than Ross and Rachel. I like Mike and Phoebe too. I'm glad they got together rather than Phoebe and David.

My favorite couple has always been Ross and Rachel. Mostly because it was so hard for them to get together. Even when they had broken up you knew they have to be together. The fact that Ross has been loving Rachel since 9th grade and that Rachel left Barry on their wedding shows that they had been the perfect couple right from the beginning. I also loved Monica and Chanlder. I think they are just the perfect couple wether the whole story mainly in season 10 seemd a bit unreal. Phoebe and Mike were also cute together but I think they don't really made a good couple. It would have been better if Phoebe got back together with David in the end.

I always rooted for Rachel and Ross to get together (although Ross did seem to get a little more annoying as the seasons went on) and I absolutely loved Monica and Chandler together. I think they were definitely my favorite pair because they did seem so good together. When you go back through and watch from the beginning, it seems like a smart match, with hints along the way (even if that's not what the writers initially intended). The chemistry's work, and you just feel very happy for them, they're so relatable. As for Phoebe and Mike, this one disappointed me. I so wanted her to be with David, he was the love of her life and she said this on many occasions. But in the 9th season they make her seem so superficial, choosing Mike because he has more to offer he money-wise, it made me sick. Sure Mike has his funny moments, but David just seemed so right for Phoebe and I hate that they didn't chose him.

I liked Monica and Chandler too, and loved Pheobe and Rachell's "they don't know that we know that they know that we know!" episode where Phebs tried to seduce Chandler! Best of the Best! Monica and Chandler had what we are all looking for: Somone whom we can be ourselves with. Moncia could be all OCD and Clean-Freak and Chandler found a mom! It was perfect. Nothing like doing a little laundry!

I never really liked any of the couples, i thought the constant on-off-on-ff of Ross and Rachel got boring, and in the first or second series, i forget which one is the one when they first get togeter, realised an easy solution to there bickering where they could've just solved it, been together and not done the back and forth thing for 10 seasons. As for Monica and Chandler & Phoebe and Mike, the characters of Chandler and Phoebe change too much from there original selves when they enter these serious relationships. In fact, I stop watching Friends on TV now after The One In London (which is ashame because the repeats on TV have JUST introduced Emily today) episodes because that's when Monica and Chandler get together, and the personality or Chandler starts to change, which is a shame because he's my favourite character in the first few series as his childish self. He gets too serious. And I HATE how in every episode of the 10th series, right at the end, something happens with Mon and Chan and the audience woo's because of this certain something that's big, life-changing news. I think they tried to end the show too abruptly and crammed all the finisher stuff into the very last series, when they should've streched it out from like season 8, instead of having Phoebe find a boyfriend, move in and get married with him, and Chandler and Monica get a house, sign up for adoption, be able to adopt, find someone to give them their baby and then get the baby(s) in one series. I think Phoebe should've got back with David in the last series, they made a much better couple. So did Joey and Rachel.

Rachel: lol, it was no problem, i actually really enjoyed readign them, there were some pretty interesting tidbits... and some of those pics of them now are just too funny, lol >.< Kendra: true, I'm not the biggest Courtney Cox fan either, but somehow, after a while, i just found the whole ross/rachel debacle rather tiresome in its repetition

I really enjoyed all the couples, but I think I found Monica more annoying than Rachel, but do love Monica and Chandler together. My fav has to go to Ross and Rachel, though, since I'm a sucker for the on-again-off-again meant-to-be kind of drama!

I too loved Monica and Chandler. It was so unexpected (at first), but ultimately I think the best couple on the show! And thanks for the "Where Are They Now?" shoutout, cosmopolitan!
