for anyone who has already seen the leaked first episode of True Blood and enjoyed it I'm sure you're as wet with anticipation for what's to come [and rather pestered by having to wait until September 14th for the second episode] but alas, there's a silver lining nonetheless. SPOILERS:
Episode 1.02: The First Taste
Bill returns Sookieâs favor by rescuing her from the Rattraysâ revenge, healing the wounded waitress with his own blood and leaving her with temporarily heightened senses. After being invited into Granâs (Lois Smith) house for a âget-to-know-youâ gathering with Jason and her family, Bill joins Sookie for a nocturnal sojourn. They end up at Billâs dilapidated antebellum estate, where he fights off his primal vampire urges for the acquiescent Sookie. Later, Sookieâs desires get the better of her as she returns to Billâs â and is greeted by a gaggle of his bloodthirsty vampire friends.
Episode 1.03: Mine
Foiled in their attempt to âglamourâ Sookie, vampires Malcolm (Andrew Rothenberg), Liam (Graham Shiels) and Diane (Aunjanue Ellis) make a hasty retreat after Bill lays claim to the waitress. At Merlotteâs, Sam seeks a short-term remedy to his long-term loneliness, while Tara seeks respite from her motherâs alcohol-fueled rage. Spurned by Dawn (Lynn Collins) for lack of performance, Jason turns to Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis), Merlotteâs short-order cook, for help with his problem.
Episode 1.04: Escape From Dragon House
Another killing in Bon Temps finds Jason back in custody with officers Andy (Chris Bauer) and Bud (William Sanderson). Tara gets him off the hook, but neither she nor Lafayette has the antidote to his current ailment. Urged by Gran to use her telepathic abilities to weed out the murderer and exonerate her brother, Sookie persuades Bill to take her to a Shreveport vampire bar called Fangtasia, where she impresses a dominant Nordic bloodsucker named Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) with her prescient powers. Later, Bill demonstrates his own considerable powers when an abusive patrolman stops the couple on their way home.
Episode 1.05: Sparks Fly Out
Gran invites Bill to speak at her Descendants of the Glorious Dead
meeting about his life as a Confederate Soldier. Shown in flash-backs of the Civil War, we are shown the horror that Bill saw and how the attempted rescue of a wounded soldier, crying out from the battlefield, lead to his best friendâs death. Bill then fields questions from his audience and one member of the DGD shows Bill a tintype of the Compton family, which Bill doesnât remember having taken, but is moved by it nonetheless.
Among the audience in attendance at the DGD meeting are Sam, Sookie, Tara and Jason, as well as three trouble-making young men packing a garlic press. Sam notices that Sookie is very tense, while Jason, high on vampire blood, is noticing Tara as if for the first time. After the meeting, Gran and Bill watch Sookie leave with Sam as they go out for coffee.
At Merlotteâs, the three trouble-makers from the DGD meeting have issues with Lafayetteâs cooking. Lafayette confronts them and they wish they had never walked into Merlotteâs that night.
Included in tonightâs episode is another flashback to when Bill meets Lorena, the vampire who turned him, and Sookie deals with the loss of someone close to her.
