An Astounding Acheivment

I have both read the majority of all the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Sherlock Holmes stories and watched the majority of all TV shows and movies about or involving Sherlock Holmes and his trusted companion and friend Dr. Watson. However this is the first time that I have seen an adaptation of Sherlock (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) befitting the character of a modern genius 'sociopath' that actually works and keeps to the vivid image of the laid back but brutally analytical detective of the Victorian Age. Furthermore the portrayal of Dr. Watson (played by Martin Freeman) is brilliant, the ruggedness of the character being almost perfectly expressed. It does however remain to be seen if this new Dr. Watson will have also the medical prowess of his fictional counter part. I am however overall impressed by this new adaptation and found the first episode (A Study in Pink) both humorously entertaining and thrilling to behold. I do hope the next episodes will be just as good or even better. More info at BBC Sherlock.
