One Piece Season 10, Episode 430 "The Imprisoned Warlord! Jimbei the First Son of the Sea" Review

After a short foray into the world of the One Piece movie, which made waves at the Japanese box office this weekend, we're back to the main plot of the series, Impel Down.

It's a pretty action-light episode, with Luffy, Mr. 3, and Buggy spending their time in evasive action, either running from the comedically stupid guardians of Impel Down or tricking them into even more stupid antics, like playing whack-a-mole with candles. It's fun, but not very meaty.

The meat of this episode is actually between Ace and the new character Jimbei, a fishman who is dangerous enough to be on the bottom level of Impel Down with the world's most dangerous criminals. He provides a lot of information about just how important Whitebeard is, and why the World Government wants to kill him - while Crocodile (remember him, from all the way back in Arabasta? He's back too!) provides a reason that the other pirates in the world all want to kill Whitebeard too. It's interesting to see it all play out, and it sets up a titanic clash in the future, because Whitebeard's fleet, the Marines, the Warlords of the Sea, and a whole lot of loose cannons are all gathering with a grudge.

But first, we have to get through Impel Down, and this episode was a good way to jog your memory about what's going on after a month of side stories. Next week, we get to see Level 3 of Impel Down, in "The Trap of Chief Jailer Saldeath - Level 3 Starvation Hell". I can't wait!
