You expect the Big Moment on "Grey's Anatomy," and the usual array of melodramatic developments in Thursday's two-hour season premiere (8 p.m. Thursday, WLS-Ch. 7). On the plus side, at least this episode isn't as padded and maddening as past two-hour "Grey's" episodes have been.
At this point, after four seasons of increasingly shrill and inconsistent writing, I've mostly stopped caring what happens to the core characters. My favorite moments of the two-hour premiere may be those in which Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) tells Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), who's constantly prattling about her convoluted relationship to Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), to just shut up already.
