Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan - Season 1 - Episode 1 - Review: "Becoming the Lord of Pandem.."

Based on the manga by Hiroshi Shiibashi called Nurarihyon no Mago, akak Grandchild of Nurarihyon, Nura is a new ongoing series animated by Studio DEEN. The manga run, which began only back in 2008 in the spring, is already up to ten volumes and going strong in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The series is Shiibashi's first work and appears to be doing pretty well after getting a drama CD late last year as well to test the waters for how far they think they can take the property.

Nura revolves around difficult times for the clan of the same name, a family of demons who are dealing with the way the world has changed. Yokai aren't exactly feared anymore since most people don't believe in them anymore but they certainly do exist. Within the Nura clan, the one that's set to be the heir to all of it who will lead the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons is Rikuo, a junior high school student who just wants to live a life of an ordinary human. It's a difficult position to be in because most of the yokai want to do the things they usually do but they're now a bit afraid of the real world out there with all the mysteries and technology that it has. For Rikuo, though he may be heir to it all and have yokai blood in him, he really wants little to do with it in the larger sense overall.
