South Park may have famously made fun of Family Guy for their "manatee jokes," but the two shows have more in common than Matt and Trey would want to admit. One of those elements is the tendency to push the limits of comedy in all sorts of directions. Not just into areas that are crude, controversial or politically incorrect, but in the actual crafting of the jokes themselves.
MacFarlane talked a bit about what's coming up in this season of Family Guy. Stewie and Brian head to 1939 Poland and accidentally bring Mort Goldman along. They do an episode that is a take on the premise of Sliders. MacFarlane remarked "Great premise, s***ty show." There will be a "New Brian," which is a new dog that is always positive and loves the family. And of course, there will be a new Star Wars parody episode, this one focusing entirely on The Empire Strikes Back.
