I may be a Trekky and I didn't know it.

The beginning of Star Trek took a few moments to understand. Since I grew up watching the television series with my dad, I really didn't know where the movie would start. As prequels go, it couldn't have been better. The actors were well chosen for their roles. Although some doubted John Cho and Simon Pegg (best known for their comedic performances) could handle some of the dramatic scenes, I thought they did splendidly.

Star Trek was action packed, with amazing visual effects that at some points reminded me of Star Wars (in a cave with a wise one anyone?) The appearances of Winona Rider, Tyler Perry, and Jennifer Morrison were surprising to say the least. I must say my favorite was seeing Leonard Nimoy again. He is a truly inspiring actor.

The best sequence of the movie, I believe was the almost ending. All the action, and things blowing up got my adrenaline pumping. The best Line of the film, "Green blooded hobgoblin!" Will be an instant classic. I loved the inclusion of the Beastie Boys "Sabotage" during the beginning chase scene, it made me nostalgic for my own rebellious youth.

All in all I thought the movie was excellent. I enjoyed almost every minute, and stayed glued to the screen. 4.75/5
