The moment that a companion does -not- fall in love with the Doctor, I will be jumping around for joy. The past 3 seasons have been, endurable, at the most. I think that because of the saturation of the "love" effect in today's TV is very overwhelming and very unoriginal to the point of physical sickness. I think that's what made Doctor Who back in the good old days great, because that factor wasn't played to get people to watch it.
