Nine is from director Rob Marshall. First put on a Broadway stage in 1982 with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston. Released in 2002 Marshall also directed the hit musical Chicago staring Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Gere. Weaving a conceivable storyline with great acting is hard enough on its own, but in Nine, Marshall must do these things while including dance choreography and musical numbers without them seeming out of place.
Nine tells of a world famous film director, Guido Contini. Contini is played by Daniel Day-Lewis and is experiencing a mid-life crisis that is disrupting his work and personal life. He must create new works that outshine the past and juggle the many women in his life. These include his wife, a mistress, his film star, a costume designer, and a few others. Some of the all-star female cast include: Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Judi Dench, and Fergie!
