Are the Hunter's Days Numbered?

Shades of Gray was quite an improvement for Heroes. There were no futuristic paintings, no cheesy lines, no annoying Mohinder (Sendhil Ramamurthy) and no weird subplots that would have further thrust the show into pointless directions. It wasn't perfect but it had all the elements that could build up enough anticipation for what's to come.

If you missed the episode, you can read a recap in this article. And if you're one of those who stuck around the whole one hour, then you've probably noticed the final scene where Danko (Zeljko Ivanek), also known as the Hunter, arrives home to find a stuffed rabbit on his desk while Sylar (Zachary Quinto) is hiding and waiting for him behind a wall. Seeing how nearly all scenes with Sylar involve blood or death, it might be safe to assume that the Hunter's days are now numbered.

Sylar could effortlessly kill the Hunter and join the rest of the hero fugitives in fighting the government, just to prove to his father that he won't turn out like him. But then again, taking out the Hunter at this point is not likely to happen on Heroes. After all, the guy is so wicked and creepy that he might as well last until the end of the Fugitives volume. And judging from Danko's conversation with Angela Petrelli (Cristine Rose), it seems that there's more to the Homeland Security Agent than meets the eye. Hopefully, we'll learn more about some skeletons in his closet as we head further into the season.

I also doubt that Sylar will be killing the Hunter, at least not yet. With Sylar seemingly returning to his evil ways just after meeting his biological father, who basically just gave him an earful about how much they have in common since they are both killers, he's probably going to be more power hungry than ever before. There's even a part of me that thinks that Sylar might end up working with Danko. Perhaps Danko offers Sylar a deal to help him go after the list of people with powers so Sylar can take their abilities in exchange for Danko's life? Or even Nathan's (Adrian Pasdar)?

Fans will have to stay tuned to find out! Be sure to catch Heroes when it returns with a good as ever episode on Monday, March 23 at 9pm on NBC.
