Damages: "All That Crap About Your Family" Review Season 3, Episode 11

Wow! What a severely dark turn right there at the end of "All That Crap About Your Family." It was a really a great and perverse moment for Joe (Campbell Scott), but maybe even more so for Marilyn (Lily Tomlin). It's a shame that such a brutal and shocking final scene had to come at the end of an episode laced with jarringly unbelievable moments. I literally could believe it when I was watching Patty (Glenn Close) tearfully tell off Ellen (Rose Byrne) for supposedly being all about "ambition." First off, this is the ultimate case of the pot calling the kettle black and secondly, Patty tried to have Ellen killed! That trumps any complaint that Patty might have about the lovely Miss Parsons. It's Ellen's eternal "get out of jail" free card. I know that a ton of debauched things happen on Damages on a regular basis, but there really should be no "getting past" the time when Patty hired someone to murder Ellen to save her own ass. Watching these two discover shared experiences and connecting motivations that cause them to gravitate toward one another is great, but having to watch Patty take a drunken "high hat" approach to Ellen was a little ridiculous.
