Hugh Hefner is reportedly breaking it off with his wife, who we know far less than those women he's with on The Girls Next Door. At last, the millionaire founder of Playboy has filed for divorce from the estranged Kimberley Conrad. Why yes, the name hardly rings a bell.
Last week, the 83-year-old Hef (but who's counting?) filed court documents in the hopes of ending his marriage to Conrad, who was a former Playmate. There were apparently "irreconcilable differences" between him and the 47-year-old, and it's not just their age.
After eleven years of being separated from Conrad, Hefner finally made his decision. TMZ obtained the documents pertaining to their marriage last Wednesday. It was stated there that the couple was married in July 1989 and have been estranged since January 1998.
Earlier this year, he and Kimberley Conrad sold their million-dollar home found beside the renowned Playboy mansion in Los Angeles. It was where their two sons have lived in since their parents' separation.
After the house was bought, Conrad filed a lawsuit against Hef in August. With that, it seemed as though this later decision of divorce was inevitable. He believes he owes nothing to Conrad, and divorcing her was just the next step.
"I am happy to be out of the marriage," the Girls Next Door star told TMZ in a phone interview. "I only remained married (to Conrad) for the sake of the children, at her request. I am happy to have this behind me."
The documents go on to say that Hefner is asking the judge for spousal support for Kimberley, setting it at $20,000 a month. He also claimed that he's already given her around $12 million since their separation. No wonder he believes he's been "generous to a fault" with the woman.
With that done, it's no doubt Hef will continue enjoying his nights at the Playboy mansion guilt-free. As if he hasn't done that for eleven years.
