Chuck: "Chuck Versus The Beard" Review Season 3, Episode 9

A few months back, Chuck creators Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak noted that the episode Zachary Levi was directing this season was a big one a major part of the mythology that was asking a lot of Levi, in his directorial debut. And they certainly weren't kidding. A terrific, standout installment, "Chuck Versus The Beard" had fun guest stars, cool action, great use of the entire cast and a big change in the show's dynamic, as someone else discovered Chuck's secret...

We already have Superman on Chuck, so why not Batman too? The star of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Diedrich Bader, was a lot of fun paired with Cedric Yarbrough, as the two comedic actors mostly played it straight (and evil) as two Ring members who claimed to be from a company interested in buying the Buy More, in order to finally trap the mysterious Charles Carmichael.

This once more put the Buy More staff right back into the middle of the action, even if they didn't know it. Lester humorously hearing Bader order everyone but Chuck and Morgan "terminated" and thinking it meant everyone was being laid off led into a wacky, well played subplot, as the entire staff locked themselves into the store, determined to rebel against any attempt to get rid of them.
