'Big Love' Season 4 Details

If you're a Big Love fan and you're hoping against hope that creepy prophet Roman Grant (Harry Dean Stanton) somehow survived his bout with an insistent pillow on last season's finale, then you're up to some bad news. Big Love creator Will Scheffer confirmed that Roman is indeed dead.

"He's absolutely dead. This isn't one of those vampire shows. Dead is dead on this show," Scheffer says.

However, this doesn't mean that Roman won't make his presence felt on season 4, which is slated to start filming in August.

"There's Roman's funeral, and his presence on the show is huge next year. He's still a looming presence. Things are coming to light that were hidden; things are coming up from the past, from the grave."

If you're hoping for Lost-like flashbacks or Grey's Anatomy-like resurrections, though, don't keep your hopes up. Scheffer says Big Love doesn't do flashbacks.

A major theme they're exploring, he reveals, is women, with the wives probably splitting into their own separate storylines.

"A theme we're exploring this season is the subjugation of women. It's not as if we haven't done this before, but we're going to do it in a deeper way"

Meanwhile, Big Love star Bill Paxton says his character Bill Henrickson has big plans for the future of his family - or families?

"I'm ready for us to become who we are without all the fighting and for Barb to really know that she's on this thing. I want her to be Bonnie to my Clyde. I want to see us take on the world, be a little more empowered, to see my empire grow. I think the Church of Bill could be a go, and Bill the Prophet could be in the cards."
