The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus Review

- The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, the long-awaited final film of the late Heath Ledger and the latest storied labor of love from director Terry Gilliam, follows a traveling theatre led by the aged Parnassus (Christopher Plummer), who possesses quite the gift of imagination. Audience members can pass through a magical mirror, wherein Parnassus' mind powers creates an alternate reality where they're faced with moral choices. Parnassus also harbors a dark secret: centuries ago, he made a deal with the devil, Mr. Nick (Tom Waits), for immortality and youth, and in exchange he would give Mr. Nick his (at that point unborn) daughter once she turned 16.

Now, in present-day London, Mr. Nick has come to collect. Parnassus is desperate to save his unknowing daughter Valentina (Lily Cole), who is fast approaching her 16th birthday. Parnassus may have found her salvation in the form of a charming stranger named Tony (Ledger, but when Tony passes through the magic mirror he's played by Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell). Tony, however, has his own agenda and sketchy past to contend with.
