Broadway seems to be a popular trend these days for the cast of Dancing with the Stars. As BuddyTV mentioned before, professional dancers and real-life couple Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff is heading to the Great White Way beginning July 25 to participate in Burn the Floor at the Longacre Theatre, while Dancing with the Stars co-host Samantha Harris is currently gracing the stage as showgirl Roxie Hart in the Tony Award-winning hit musical, Chicago, and can be seen through a limited engagement that will last until Sunday, August 16 at the Ambassador Theatre.
Now, Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba has taken the Broadway plunge as well.
Unlike her co-stars on the ABC dance series, however, Inaba won't be acting. She will serve as producer to Burn the Floor, which is the same Latin and ballroom dance spectacular that features Chmerkovskiy and Smirnoff.
"After over 20 years of experience with many talented artists in television and film, I'm thrilled to get my feet wet on Broadway with this wonderful production," Inaba said in a statement. "I've been a fan of Burn the Floor since its inception, and I am honored to be a part of the creative team that is bringing this wonderful show to Broadway."
Inaba, the only American judge on Dancing with the Stars, has directed the first ever touring version of the ABC hit series and has choreographed The TV Land Awards, The Kids Choice Awards, So You Think You Can Dance and American Idol, just to name a few.
Fans can catch Burn the Floor, which is created, directed and choreographed by Jason Gilkison, until August 2. The cast includes other award-winning international dancers such as Henry Byalikov, Sharna Burgess, Kevin Clifton, Sasha Farber, Jeremy Garner, Gordana Grandosek, Patrick Helm, Sarah Hives, and Melanie Hooper, among others.
