Gossip Girl fans have plenty to look forward to as the show heads further down its second season. As reported before, the series is planning an Anne Hathaway - inspired storyline for its season ender and has enlisted two more actors to spice up the drama in the Upper East Side. But that's not all. Most recently, it has been reported that singer and co-founder of the anti folk group The Moldy Peaches, Adam Green, has signed on to guest star on The CW's hit series.
Green's off-kilter style has earned a modest college radio following in the United States and enjoys increasing popularity in different European countries, particularly Germany. Last year, Green's The Moldy Peaches started to have resurgence in popularity due to their music being included in the hit indie film Juno. The soundtrack album reached number 1 on the Billboard album chart on its third week of release.
As part of the confidentiality agreement that prohibits him from discussing the details of his upcoming Gossip Girl stint, Green refused to reveal anything juicy. However, he did hint that plays a friend of Poppy's (Serena's socialite friend who told her to let her light shine) and that he and the Misshapes are invited to a party thrown by Serena (Blake Lively) at which she and Jenny (Taylor Momsen) have some sort of squabble.
She felt deceived in this scene because of what Serena told her about the nature of the party, Green said.
"It's kind of a bummer role, Green said of his own non-speaking part. It's really me and the Misshapes scowling and looking like we're not having a good time."
Still, Green is pretty happy about being on Gossip Girl.
"It's like when they used the Moldy Peaches song in the Bahamas commercial - they made it even better than we did, he said. I just knew on Gossip Girl I could probably be even better than I am in real life, you know?"
