Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 2, Episode 6 - "Weapons Factory" Review

I know there are still fans hating on Ahsoka, but this show has done fairly well with episodes focusing on her in the past, including one of my favorite of the entire series "Cloak of Darkness." And when I think about it, that episode was the last time we had a big role for Luminara Unduli, who returned here for another strong installment. So hey, bring on more Luminara!

Continuing the campaign on Geonosis, Anakin and Luminara were tasked with destroying the newly built droid factory. This is where Ahsoka came in, as she and Luminara's apprentice, Barriss Offee, were sent into the Geonosian catacombs to blow up the factory. A bit off an odd couple dynamic was introduced, as the rebellious Ahsoka was bemused by the formal, obedient ways of Barriss (voiced by Meredith Salenger).

I actually feel a bit more could have been done with the differing styles of the two, which caused some conflict, but wasn't really an ongoing issue. But in the meantime, there were some nice little touches watching Anakin and Luminara interact, with Anakin noting, "You always were thorough" and Luminara teasing Anakin a bit. In the movies, we got no real sense of Anakin having a relationship with any of the Jedi beyond Obi-Wan, Yoda and Mace Windu, so it's good to have these references to the fact that yes, Anakin has acquaintances and history amongst the Jedi that go back through the years.

The animation on this show continues to impress and become more detailed and nuanced. Just look at the lighting and detail in the catacombs, which included seeing the dust particles floating through the air. And the visual of the huge droid factory explosion and all the debris it created was very cool.
