Here's proof that Julianne Moore's stint on As the World Turns is not a practical joke. As you may have heard, Moore is returning to the soap where she began her acting career, won a Daytime Emmy Award and played Frannie and Sabrina Hughes from 1985 to 1988. According to CBS, the 49-year-old actress will reprise her role as Frannie, who returns to Oakdale to celebrate her father and stepmother's wedding anniversary on the April 5 episode of As the World Turns.
Julianne Moore, who has since earned acclaim with films such as The End of the Affair, Magnolia, Far from Heaven, The Hours and A Single Man, isn't the first movie actress who returned to daytime TV. If you recall, James Franco, whose credits include the top-grossing Spider-Man franchise, Pineapple Express, and the Oscar-winner Milk, puzzled viewers when he decided to appear on General Hospital last November. At the time, Franco claimed that he's not doing soap for any other reason than for the experience of it but rumors later surfaced that it's part of his meta film project Erased James Franco with artist/filmmaker Carte.
