So what did you think of tonight's episode of GLEE "The Rhodes Not Taken" ?
I think Glee and Kristin Chenoweth are a match made in heaven. The Broadway veteran was terrific as the boozy former star of the high school glee club. She just killed "Maybe This Time" from Cabaret. Kristin's having a great month isn't she? First she wins the Emmy for her role on Pushing Daises and now she is guest starring on Glee. As she mentioned in her Emmy acceptance speech, she's not working right now and I think Glee needs to make her a regular cast member. Maybe not as a high school student (that was ridiculous but that's what this show excels at) but she could be Will's assistant. I like those two together I still have their cover of "Alone" stuck in my head.
My biggest complaint last week was not enough of the glee club singing together, so, needless to say, I'm loving that this week's Glee episode delivered a lot of great performances. Now that the club has some more members, they really seem to be coming together. I was a little nervous when I heard they were covering Queen, but their version of "Somebody to Love" was great. Though after Mercedes' solo, I wondered why they didn't just have her sing the lead? Rachel's great but I think Mercedes owned her on that last song.
I'm glad Rachel's back in glee club because I really didn't want them to drag that storyline out to another episode. Finn was really manipulative in his attempts to get her to quit Cabaret, but I do think that he really has feelings for Rachel. He deserved the slap she gave him and hopefully the smile they shared at the end meant that all was forgiven.
The only thing this Glee episode was missing was more Jane Lynch. She was only in one scene but her lines are always some of the most quotable "First I was aroused, then I was furious." Though Emma had a line at the beginning that just made my jaw drop "I started a flirtation with a high school flame named Andy. It got weird and I broke it off and two months later Versace was dead." Whoa, I can't believe they went there!
Are there any other guest stars you'd like to see on the show? I'd love to see Neil Patrick Harris make an appearance. It seems like Glee is getting better every week and I can't wait to see what they'll do next.
