Curb Your Enthusiasm has been a cult series for HBO, which made it a bit offbeat to see the new season get a fairly large amount of mainstream media attention. The reason for this was simple enough the Seinfeld cast were reuniting on Curb, in a storyline that had Larry David and the actors from the series deciding to do a full reunion special that would never happen in real life.
Viewers tuning in to see the Seinfeld cast specifically this season would definitely have been frustrated, as they didn't make their first appearance until the third episode, and appeared infrequently after that until the end of the season. Instead, Season 7 began with Larry still in the midst of his unlikely romance with Loretta Black (Vivica A. Fox), which hilariously began at the conclusion of Season 6. It was fairly obvious David didn't want the series to actually chronicle this relationship though, as he quickly wrapped up the Larry/Loretta storyline, sending her and most of the Black family away with the notable exception of Leon (J.B. Smoove), who continued to be an extremely funny addition to the series.
While Leon only appeared periodically through the season, it was almost always to good use. He and Larry's friendship gave us plenty of very funny moments, including their discussion of descriptions next to names on their cell phone ("Nancy big tits, so I know Nancy's got big ass tits"). Leon was also an invaluable part of the season's penultimate episode, "The Table Read", in a hysterical scene involving he and Michael Richards.
