What I've been waiting for!

Finally, a vampire series that doesn't portray vampires as openly evil. I loved the Anne Rice books because of the "human" interest parts of the story. So, I have always said that I'd love to see a TV series with positive portrayals of vampires.

I'm enjoying the mysteries here. I like that everything isn't explained right away and that the characters are ambiguous in their motivations. I also enjoy the cliffhanger endings. I'm not too sure what to expect, and I like that, too.

There are a few one dimensional characters that I'm not too thrilled with. I'm getting kind of tired of the gay stereotype (sexually starved predator), and the bitchy black woman. But they characters aren't too terrible, so it's not a deal breaker.

Overall, enjoyed it and am looking forward to more!

I agree, it's an excellent show!! I thought it would have a Buffy feel, a show which I wasn't crazy about. But then I heard that Alan Ball (Six Feet Under) writes/adapted it, so I knew it'd be good. Anna Paquin is great in it, and the rest of the cast as well. Incredible acting so far. Can't wait for more episodes, hope it wins an Emmy for next year!
