ABC Family debuted a new summer series last night - the gymnastics themed Make It or Break It.

The network launched smash-hit The Secret Life of The American Teenager around this time last summer; will they be able to repeat the success?
I have to say, albeit predictable, I thoroughly enjoyed the pilot episode. First off, there has been a sore lack of any programs about gymnastics on TV...like ever. For reasons I cannot quite put into words, I feel like many young girls - the target audience of ABC Family - are captivated by the sport of gymnastics. Who else finds that this is among their favorite portion of the Olympics?
So...the second I heard that ABC Family was developing a show about gymnastics, I was already going to give it a look no matter what.
And...while I am still curious to see if the show has enough meat for a sustaining life, I was pleased by where and how it started. It's really fun to get a glimpse into a world that we all (or at least some of us...) secretly wished we could have been a part of. There are likable characters - underdogs to root for - and villains to root against (who we still can sympathize with).
While not groundbreaking beyond the sense that there hasn't been a show about gymnastics previously - I found Make It or Break It to be delightful summer fare. I am certainly willing to keep watching and seeing how it develops.
Did the show hit the mark for you?
