Human Target has been one of the better freshman shows on air this season, and it has been remarkably consistent with high quality episodes every week. But this one was far from a crowning achievement for the series.
Human Target loves its "in media res" beginnings, and we're treated to another one in this episode. The story began with a woman, Dr. Jessica Shaw, on the run in Tanarak, Alaska. Actress Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation / Journeyman) plays Dr. Shaw, and she provides some brief background info via a voiceover in the intro, but her delivery here is a bit stilted. The intro as a whole is kind of weak. Even with a short car chase, this intro lacks the energy of previous episodes. In fact, I'd say it borders on being boring.
Chance arrives on the scene in a brand new Camaro, with camera shots that make the show feel more like a car commercial than an action show. There are somewhat obvious product placements for Chevy vehicles and OnStar throughout this story, and I'm sure GM paid handsomely for it, but it kind of detracts from the story.
