Recap Dawson's Creek: Season 3, Episode 10 - First Encounters of the Close Kind

Dawson, Joey, Andie and Jack go to some big city (I assume it's Boston), and each has his/her own agenda.

Dawson brings his "Witch Island" documentary to a film festival. He has a brief conversation with a girl who registers his entry. Later, his film in shown, and the viewers don't seem to like it at all. Dawson is obviously disappointed. The girl, Nikki, happens to be nearby, and she tries to console him by explaining that he shouldn't have mimicked "The Blair Witch Project." Dawson gets indignant and tells Nikki to leave him alone. He runs into Joey and tells her he's afraid he has no talent to back up his aspirations. She tells him that she believes in him, and that he has what it takes to be a successful filmmaker. Later, Dawson watches another movie at a festival. The audience loves it, and Dawson does, too. To his surprise, the movie is made by... Nikki! He approaches and congratulates her, but she senses he isn't genuinely happy for her and tells him that is the roles were reversed, she would be happy for him. Later, the festival awards are given to the winners. Shockingly, Nikki doesn't get anything. She is terribly upset, and Dawson tries to console her. Nikki wants to be alone, but Dawson explains that moviemaking is not about winning awards, but about reaching the viewers, and that she has done it -- and that he, inspired by her, will not give up his goals, either. She seems to be flattered.
