Eureka: "Stoned" Review Season 4, Episode 7

In the town of Eureka, the scientific disaster of the day is like a hanger on which we drape a great relationship story. As it should be. This week, people turning into stone was secondary to what was going on between the characters. Normally it wouldn't matter if you changed this week's human gargoyles to exploding muffins at Cafe Diem. Unless we're talking metaphorically. Because unfreezing people trapped in stone is exactly what's happening to each of our heros.

This week, someone had to unfreeze and change their regular patterns if they wanted to make their love life work. There was even a joke about the change in Zoe's hair at the beginning of the episode and a discussion about how change is good. This episode shook things up for everyone in the heart department. After realizing that Grant has asked Alison out on a date, Carter finally makes a move, only to be told that they're better off as friends. And as to why Alison chose the newcomer over Carter? She tells him that Grant actually asked her. Carter never did. "You kissed me and acted like it never happened," she told him. Being frozen in stone and afraid to take a risk meant that he lost the woman he loves.
