Review Lie to Me: Season 2, Episode 6 - Lack of Candor

Looks like we've got a bit of a trend going on here. Just a few weeks ago, we got a glimpse into Cal's seedy criminal past and now we got a taste of what Reynolds was up to before he became the FBI liaison to The Lightman Group.

As enjoyable as a one-off case on Lie to Me can be, it's way more interesting when Cal starts using his talent on the people working in his own office. There's more than enough material to mine here and hopefully there's more of this in the future.

So it turns out that Reynolds was undercover for a number of years, in an operation to bring down a ruthless Wall Street fixer named Elliot Green. You name it, the guy did it -- extortion, kidnapping, assault, and murder. However, similar to Jack Bauer's time with the Salazar brothers in season three of 24, Ben had to participate in some unsavory activities to maintain his cover, including minor crimes and occasional drug use.

To compound matters, Ben was forced to kill one of Elliot's real goons once his cover was blown. To maintain Ben's position in the case, his handler never reported the murder. And that's where Lightman came in. Ben couldn't testify against Green without incriminating himself and unless the truth about his FBI sanctioned killing came out, he had no choice but to obstruct justice.
