Even though Don's life continues to be a travail, for once it seemed like the old Draper was back on his game in this episode. Not only was he back at it with Betty in a combative way, which while not good at least it showed he wasn't a doormat, but he also did something right for Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. And he did it in a way that reminded us why Don Draper is a genius. That's not my assessment, it was Smitty's. More on the brilliant Draper ploy and Sally's sorry situation after the jump.
After losing Jai-lai and Clearasil to CGC, creative director Ted Chaough was pretty cocky. He ran into Don at Benihana -- where they were both prepping for the Honda account. Don was not amused, probably because instead of being smart about the Japanese, Don was being obvious. He's usually smarter than that.
