So some people thought it was immature and off-putting (as a reader put it) for someone of Aaron Carter's age (21) to be crying on a show like Dancing with the Stars? Or maybe it's because they thought it was insincere?. For his part, he said he grew up on the show, and that from the crying boy that he was, he emerged a man.
"There were a lot of epiphany moments and I learned a lot from [pro partner Karina Smirnoff]," Aaron tells People after his elimination this week. "It was almost like my father a little bit because my dad ... taught me so many different things, but the way he did it, he only had to do it once. She did the same thing. When it came to learning something about me, she only had to say something one time."
So Aaron Carter did soften after being perceived in the earlier weeks as arrogant? He said he found the fact that he cried a lot during his stint on the ABC show a little "funny."
"It is what it is!" Carter tells Usmagazine.com also after the show. "It was funny! It was entertaining. It was a good results show tonight."
In his interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, meanwhile, Aaron and Karina denied any rumors that they're taking partnership extends outside the dance floor.
"We're good friends. That's what it comes down to," he said, adding that he's willing to submit to a polygraph test to prove that he wasn't lying.
Karina, who at 31 years is 10 years older than Aaron, broke off her engagement with fellow Dancing with the Stars pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy a mere two weeks before the current season kicked off. Chmerkovskiy had been quoted as saying rumors of her ex-fiance dating Aaron had him feeling "betrayed" by Karina.
"We fight like an old married couple!" Karima told Us Magazine in a separate interview, also after their elimination.
