Bones: Preview of Episode 5.3 "The Plain in the Prodigy"

After a leaky pipe, some money issues and a few sweet moments, Bones returns for its third episode this season to explore another case, and perhaps to tickle our imagination with yet another Booth and Brennan moment. Tonight Booth and Brennan go back in time to investigate the murder of a musical prodigy. No, it's not one of those flashback specials but "The Plain in the Prodigy" does take our dynamic duo to a place where tradition and simple living are of importance.

The case begins when human remains are found alongside the railroad, and Brennan and Booth are called to investigate. Sooner or later, they find out that the bones belong to Levi Yoder, a member of the Amish community who disappeared roughly two months prior to his Rumspringa. A quick Google search explains Rumspringa as a period of adolescence for some members of the Amish that begins around the age of sixteen and ends when a youth chooses baptism within the Amish church or instead leaves the community. In other words, it's sort of like an exploration of the outside world.

To get to the bottom of the mystery, Brennan and Booth travel to an Amish community where they are forced to become accustomed to their way of life and resist modern conveniences. In due course, they discover that Levi was a piano prodigy, and their search leads them to believe that his unusual talent may have played a part in his untimely death.

Meanwhile, Cam is coping with the stress that comes from being a new parent and it looks like she's about to have a minor meltdown after dealing with prom dates and other teenage issues with stepdaughter Michelle (Tiffany Hines). Luckily, Booth steps up to help Michelle in line.
