Freddy's back. Again. And he's been reinvented for the upcoming Platinum Dunes-produced reboot of the Nightmare on Elm Street slasher film franchise due out this April.
The new flick is billed as a contemporary re-imagining of the original Wes Craven film. The story centers, not surprisingly, on a group of suburban teenagers share one common bond: they're all being stalked by Freddy Krueger, a horribly disfigured killer who hunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can protect one another... but when they sleep, there's no escape.
Donning Freddy's trademark fedora, red-and-green striped sweater, and four-bladed glove is Academy Award nominee Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen). The teens whose dreams are terrorized by Freddy Krueger are played by Kyle Gallner, Katie Cassidy, Rooney Mara, Thomas Dekker, and Kellan Lutz. The supporting cast includes veteran character actor Clancy Brown and Connie Britton.
