A holiday can do the strangest things to people, and it looks like the Fourth of July has affected the Gosselin family. It's been two weeks since Jon and Kate filed their divorce papers, but the clan decided to put that issue far from their minds just recently. Independence Day took a different turn when the Jon & Kate plus 8 stars celebrated together to watch the fireworks.
As reported by People.com, the Gosselins gathered in their Wernersville, Pa. home for the holidays. Jon and Kate took their eight kids outside to have some fun, spending the day playing volleyball and lighting sparklers. They even got out and picked blueberries.
It seems as though Jon and Kate are trying their best to keep things normal for the kids, which is really great. They're taking their promise seriously and focusing on the needs of their children. Even though the parents can't rebuild their relationship entirely, it's better to get along for the sake of the young Gosselins.
Jon and Kate have long since planned the whole Fourth of July affair, and they've been talking about it for a week. They set aside their differences at last, no matter how difficult it was.
"Jon pointed to the July 4 holiday and said, 'What are we going to do about that?," Kate Gosselin stated. "I absolutely cannot imagine not spending every single holiday with my kids. I don't care what it takes. I will be there."
Still, their efforts to stick together to enjoy time with the children isn't enough to rekindle any fireworks between Jon and Kate. Looking at those pictures of theirs, they don't even seem like they're smiling. Unlike those sparklers they had, their faces did not light up at all.
Nevertheless, it was a commendable decision to pick out their holidays for the kids. Maybe they'll go do a Jon and Kate Plus 8 Halloween special next. This hiatus of theirs seems to be doing pretty well, and being away from the camera must be a relief to them. Perhaps they really should do away with the TLC show if they want their family issues to lessen.
