Playing "The Three Days Rule"

It's been two weeks since we last enjoyed a new episode of How I Met Your Mother but last night's installment made up for the show's absence one way or another. As always, Barney's (Neil Patrick Harris) monologues gave a comical touch to the rules on when it's acceptable to call someone you're interested in whom you just met, while Robin (Cobie Smulders), who continuously pulls off being funny and sexy at the same time, adorned the episode with her bad jokes.

Unlike past episodes, however, there wasn't a lot going on in "The Three Days Rule." The show simply focused its story on Marshall (Jason Segel) and Barney as they play a prank on Ted (Josh Radnor) by pretending to be a girl he's having a "text" relationship. Ted decides to text the girl he just met - a violation of the "three days rule," which states that you have to wait three days after a date to call a girl so that she'll want you more. Lily (Alyson Hannigan) was still missing (which the episode didn't care to explain) and she won't be back for a couple more weeks but the show managed to make it work by throwing in a several hilarious twists.
