There was more joy for the good folk at Pixar as Toy Story 3 romped to another box-office topping weekend in the US. The third toytastic instalment continued its opening weekend momentum with the seventh-highest second weekend ever, an estimated $59m, 57% of which came from 3D screens.
Less cheering, at least for Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz and that CGI bull, was the performance of breezy actioner Knight And Day ($27.8m), comfortably beaten into second spot by Adam Sandler's latest midlife comedy Grown Ups ($41m). An uncertain, genre-shifting Stateside marketing campaign has been blamed for Cruise's worst opening weekend since Far And Away, and begorrah if that didn't open with half the screens.
