'Dexter' Review: Exposing the Hungry Man Season 4, Episode 9

What kind of father keeps a coffin in his garage? He's the kind of father who also beats up his son, locks up his daughter and basically puts a leash on his entire family. And that's exactly the kind of person Trinity is. In "Hungry Man," the ninth episode of Dexter's fourth season, we learn that underneath Trinity's picture perfect family is an unbearable nightmare waiting to explode. This gives Dexter Morgan more than enough reason to kill Trinity because not only will he be avenging Lundy and his sister Deb, in the long run he's also saving Trinity's family from the monster that is Arthur Mitchell.

Except for a lovely home, Trinity's family doesn't have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving holiday. But who could blame them? Trinity has sucked the life out of his wife, daughter and son by terrorizing them and using them in maintaining his cover---similar to what Dexter did when he first started dating Rita. The big difference is that family means so much more to Dexter than to Trinity.

Unlike Trinity's family, I have a lot to be thankful for in this episode. First of all, we see Dexter showing Trinity the monster in him as he threatened to kill him just before Trinity's wife and daughter comes to his rescue. It's an unusual leak that exposes Dexter's real motive behind his "friendship" with Trinity and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Trinity turns the tables on Dexter.

Next, I am thankful for Vince Masuka showing up for Thanksgiving at Rita's house as Deb's wingman. I just love the chemistry and their unusual friendship. More often than not, Vince finds significant breakthroughs when it comes to solving crimes but this week, he stumbles on a significant discovery when he catches Elliot and Rita kissing.

Lastly, I am thankful that this whole plot involving annoying reporter-porn star Christine Hill is about to get interesting now that it's been revealed that she's also the daughter of Arthur Mitchell. The best thing about this, though, is that Quinn's life will probably be in danger now that Deb finally knows who killed Lundy.

All the build-up has been worth it, my jaw dropped at the last scene!
